About The Author:
Hi, I am Isadora Katz is the author of the Dirk Dobbs, Zombie Hunter, Mystery Series, as well as being a mother, wife and grandmother. I live in North Georgia, USA. I spent 18+ years in advertising, marketing and newspaper publishing. I am also visually impaired but that doesn't stop me from doing my favorite things, like reading, writing, doing several hobbies and singing in a rock and roll band!
About The Book:
I love to read mysteries, so I never imagined that I would be writing science fiction. It was just one of those things that you, kind of, start off as a lark and it later turns into something you enjoy. Zombies were probably the least likely topic that I would have picked, had I been asked to do so several years ago. But life has a funny way of freakin' you out!
About The Characters:
The Dirk Dobbs, Zombie Hunter, series has become more enjoyable as time goes by. I started out, jokingly, making Dirk the alter ego to my husband, Rick. I imagined what Rick would be like if he suddenly found himself in the middle of a zombie outbreak and I combined a lot of his real life traits with the fictitious ones of the character. At one point, I found I was having a hard time keeping up with the differences between Dirk and Rick! But, he has loved it and given me all sorts of weapon and tactical information. I laughingly say that Rick has made Dirk what he is today!
I carried that theme farther when I made Dirk's best friend and cohort, Randall Durham. I based his character on my husband's real friend, Randy Drummond,. They have been friends since elemtary school, just like Dirk and Randall. I used many of the real Randy's most endearing qualities and mixed them with the imaginary Randall's experiences. It made it all much more fun. And, I get to tease them about being zombie hunters when we all get together to have band practice.
There are a few more conglomeration characters in both books. I stole my daoughter's friend, Angel Craig's name for the reporter-turned-zombie hunter character, but I gave her name a makeover by spelling her last name with a 'K”. (Don't ask me why.) She is fierce in real life so it was perfect for the character, Angel Kraig.
